Moms.com recently had the opportunity to speak with Krupa who is pregnant for the first time. She is currently 5-months pregnant and she shared with us her perceptions on beauty, what she’s most looking forward to about motherhood, and she even gave some advice to young women and girls who may not feel so pretty.
You’ve been in the beauty industry for a while. What do you plan to tell your son or your daughter about beauty?
Beauty comes within. The way you look outside has an impact on what career you may take. For me, because of the way I look, I decided I wanted to be a model. It was a passion of mine. However, I think the biggest beauty comes from within. I will teach my child about having a big heart, being a good person, treating others with respect and to have respect for all living things. I think everybody’s beautiful in their own way. I will teach my children that it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s what kind of person you are on the inside.
What are some tips that you would give to pregnant or new moms on staying active or healthy while pregnant?
I would say that it is important to listen to your body and your doctor. In the beginning of my pregnancy during the first three months, I was feeling super tired. I still tried to get up in the morning and do a little walk up the hill by my house. You basically have to listen to what your body’s going through.
In my industry, I was like, “What’s going to happen when I become pregnant?” But as soon as you become pregnant, your mindset changes. I want to do whatever is healthy for me and the baby. I am not as concerned with working out as I am keeping the baby healthy. Now, I am just more interested in keeping a good blood flow and circulation for the baby. Having good circulation is good for both you and the baby. I mostly hike up and down the hill for about an hour. I definitely don’t push it. I try to eat super healthy. I don’t have crazy cravings. My appetite hasn’t really changed much. Basically, I think that it is important to balance a healthy lifestyle before and after the pregnancy.
What are you most looking forward to about motherhood Joanna?
I’m looking forward to finally meeting the little precious angel. I don’t think women realize what a miracle it is until you’re actually pregnant. It’s such an amazing feeling to feel your baby kick. I think I’m going to really miss being pregnant, because I have had a pretty easy pregnancy with the exception of being tired the first three months. The second trimester was amazing. I am looking forward to seeing the baby’s face and just starting a new chapter in my life.
There are so many young women and girls who watch ‘Top Model’. As a judge on Poland’s ‘Top Model’, what type of encouragement would you give to young women and girls who might not feel so pretty?
Find something within yourself that you love and focus on that one thing. I mean nobody’s perfect. We all have our insecurities, no matter what we look like. There’s always going to be something that we would like to change or fix. I think it’s just about focusing on something that you really love about yourself. if it’s your eyes, if it’s your lips, if it’s your hair, if it’s your heart, if you are a very good human being, and you want to do some good in charity work. I think it’s about finding that something that makes you happy and not worrying too much about the outside world. I try to show or tell the girls from the other side that it’s not all Glam and beauty. We are not waking up that way. It takes work.
What’s one bit of advice that you would now give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to have more patience. I would say to think twice before you get into something that you are not familiar with, or something that you’re not educated about. I think that my mistakes have made me a lot stronger and have given me some strength to go through some negative things in my life. Financially, I made some bad decisions.
That’s great advice. I have to tell you Joanna, that you are very candid. I really appreciate that.
You know what? My mom just raised me that way. She taught me to just be open, honest, and open-minded. There’s no reason to pretend like you’re perfect. You don’t have to act like you don’t make mistakes in life, because you know what? We all do. I think being in the public eye, people look up to these, you know, these people. I think it’s not good to sell something, show or say something that’s not true because I think that we’re all human beings. We all have feelings. We all go through mistakes in our lives. We’re not perfect, though we like to sell that image of perfection. I think it’s just wrong, because then the kids grow up thinking that there’s something wrong with them. They begin to think that they’re not good enough. And it shouldn’t be that way.
