God did so many things this year in my life that I God did so many things this year in my life that I actually have to keep quiet about most of it. But, for the sake of testifying, I’ll share a few of the sweet, precious things that came to pass for the month of December 2022. On Dec. 7th while walking on Lenox, I found some money on the street! (I was on the phone with a sibling, and she heard me when I stepped on the wad of cash, because I started hollering, praising and laughing loudly!) On December 8th I booked a National voiceover spot for a major fashion brand, on December 9th I was blessed to ghostwrite content for one of the world’s largest publishing houses, on December 15th a door opened for me to write Black history month content for one of the country’s oldest banks (I did not apply for this opportunity. They found me online and the invoice has already been approved). On Dec. 19th, I received an audiobook recording contract from a publisher. With the exception of one, I did not hustle, strive or even apply for these opportunities. I am no better than the next person, BUT I do walk around in “belief”. In all honesty, I’m not one to follow protocol, I tick to my own clock, and I don’t follow trends (Case in point—my tacky, non-matching outfit. I could care less about a designer label.) Even if none of these things were to have happened, I’ve been through some things, and I overstand that even on my worst day—there is a greater hand guiding me. —To whosoever will, hold on to “hope” and keep pressing!
Charleston, South Carolina—I have a serious crus Charleston, South Carolina—I have a serious crush on you! Victorian homes, quaint neighborhoods, hidden histories, rich Gullah culture, good food and good, old-fashioned Southern hospitality. I went shopping, and visited the “old exchange” slave provost and dungeon. When I tell you I am so thankful for my civil liberties and human rights, it’s an understatement. I’m proud to be an American and thankful for those who came before me! Taking nothing for granted, staying focused and steadily offering up praise. A few of my fav spots are: @darling_oyster_bar @ensembleconsignment and Rainbow Row. #southcarolina #charleston
I could write many different dissertations about m I could write many different dissertations about my impromptu visit to @nmaahc —However, I’ll keep it visceral and just leave these words right here: resilience, generational creativity, fortitude, kingdom ingenuity, unbreakable and infinitely beautiful. Go visit with an open mind and heart. #naamhc
My latest for @Essence provides a review for @Sony My latest for @Essence provides a review for @SonyPictures ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. I Wanna Dance With Somebody takes on the daunting task of telling the story of one of the greatest talents of a generation. The candid Whitney Houston biopic set for release today highlights both the singer’s ascent and descent, and the major life events that contributed to each.—
“Whitney’s personal struggles with addiction are handled with great care in the film, and in contrast to the dominant portrayals of her in pop culture, her downward spiral isn’t made a mockery of in this project. There’s a Biblical saying, “To whom much is given, much is required,” and arguably for Whitney, a woman who loved God, the weight of her gift to sing and captivate audiences, coupled with being responsible for the livelihoods of those closest to her, required more than she could handle, and this film fairly depicts that.” #IWannaDanceMovie #whitneyhouston #sonypictures

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio which debuted on Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio which debuted on December 9th on @Netflix is absolutely beautiful! The attention to detail and the meticulousness of the art direction and animation teams are so amazing. Additionally, today @themuseumofmodernart opened the Pinocchio exhibit to the public. The exhibit is a definite must see if you’re in New York City. It’s a great way to introduce this classic to a new generation, or revisit it as an adult. #netflix #pinocchio #moma #nyc
